5-Phase Stepping Systems

SANMOTION F5 is a 5-phase stepper system that enables high-precision positioning through simple control operations.
Its typical basic step angle is 0.72°, and accurate control is achieved via pulse signals.
Stepper Motor
A stepper motor is a motor that rotates by a fixed angle each time it receives a pulse. It can control the rotation speed via the speed (frequency) of the command pulses, and also control the rotation angle via the number of command pulses. When the stepper motor stops, it features vibration-free and stable stopping characteristics due to the holding torque effect.
Application Examples
This product features synchronous constant-speed operation with command pulses, precise positioning, and stable stopping. It can be widely used in the following applications:
Semiconductor-related equipment, analytical devices and testing instruments in the medical and environmental fields, ATMs, surveillance cameras and spotlights, packaging machines, embroidery machines, automatic ticket checkers, etc.

Low Vibration For AC input drivers: The speed ripple during motor rotation is reduced by approximately 30%¹.
For DC input drivers: The speed ripple is reduced by approximately 75%².
Additionally, when using the low-vibration mode, stable operation can be achieved even with 1-step (full step) or 2-step (half step) resolution settings. Vibration can be suppressed regardless of the control device constraints.
High Torque For AC input drivers: The output torque is the same when using AC 100V or AC 200V power supplies; no motor replacement is needed when changing power specifications.
For DC input drivers: Newly developed current control technology improves torque at high speeds.
High-power models: Torque is 1.5x or more compared to our traditional product + dedicated motor combinations; basic models offer 1.05x the torque of traditional motors, extending torque performance to high speeds.
Microstepping

The basic step angle of 0.72° can be subdivided into 1 to 250 steps, with 16 levels of different resolutions, reducing vibration for smooth rotation.
Additionally, electronic gear functionality is equipped on AC input drivers and high-power DC input drivers.
Using the setting software, you can configure the motor's resolution based on the ball screw pitch and reduction ratio.
Compact Size For DC input drivers (high-power models): Adopts an all-new exterior design; volume is 63% smaller and weight is 73% lighter² compared to traditional products.
Basic models: Compatible with our traditional products³; volume is 7% smaller and weight is 39% lighter.

Options include 4000 P/R high-resolution encoders, motors with electromagnetic brakes or gear teeth.
For AC input drivers with electromagnetic brakes: The on/off sequence is automatically controlled; no external power supply is needed for the brake.
Easy Replacement Basic models of DC input drivers are easy to replace: They are compatible with our traditional products³ and feature a compatible user interface. You can continue using the motor you’ve been using—only replacing the driver can enhance your equipment’s performance.
Analysis Function & Equipment Startup Support The setting software allows you to adjust control parameters, analyze alarms, and monitor operating status (for AC input drivers and high-power DC input drivers).
When using a motor with an encoder (for AC input drivers), you can monitor the current position and speed, making it easy to identify the cause of issues like vibration or step loss.
